What caused you to search for a Data Quality Solution?
So we actually went through the process of taking a legacy Marketo instance that’s… we’ve had for probably seven years, or six or seven years, disconnecting it from Salesforce, and then last Spring reconnecting it with Salesforce, which created hundreds of thousands of duplicates, and so we were exploring different tools to help manage that, along with some other issues of this, sort of, new custom integration that we had going. So I met with some folks at Marketo Summit last year, and we purchased it and it’s my favorite piece of software that we purchased in my memory.

So we basically had multiple versions of every person, and only half of those records were actually connected to their Salesforce record, so they were only… Only half of them were pulling in active account data, etc, and then, there were just exact duplicates that might qualify for lists, but just had a bunch of old data that wasn’t being updated
On the impact duplicates had on Marketing, Sales, and Customers.
We would be sending emails and communications to the wrong people. People that were not having the right information pulled into their record we’re getting things that weren’t intended for them, so that led to a bad customer experience, and a bad prospect experience and it just, an inflated Marketo database.

Yeah, implementing the solution definitely helps reduce our database size and keep it within the, what are, we what do we call, “allotted limit”? “Database size limit”?
Solving The Duplicate Problem
Um, yeah. I mean, I don’t have any specific numbers, but I do know that I merged and converted well over two hundred thousand records using RingLead, and our total database is five hundred thousand, so that’s a massive impact on our database. And our database is everything that we run off of, so if we have accurate customer data and accurate prospect data then it’s just a better experience for everyone. And the salespeople are happy when people are getting the right communications, and that’s always a good thing for a marketer.
On Onboarding & Implementing RingLead
It was great. It was quick. We don’t use it for the traditional sort of advertised RingLead, but we, we’ve basically turned it into a tool that we use to fix a whole bunch of problems that no one else had answers for us about. It’s not common that people do this weird disconnect reconnect thing with Salesforce and it creates a lot of problems that Marketo didn’t have the answers for and we sort of jerry-rigged RingLead to solve that for us and it’s been awesome.
